Trend Alert: Floor Length Gowns @ the 2011 BET AWARDS

Wasssup Swankettes,

It's B.Lamar back at your fashion disposal.  I’m sure we all can agree that the 2011 BET Awards had some OMG memorable moments for various reasons. As crazy as this year’s show was, the red carpet was a true “Survival of the Fittest.” One of my favorite style choices of this year’s show was the floor length gown.  Yea, I know many would say: “It’s BET not the Oscars!” but the classic silhouette of a floor length gown can be appropriate for any occasion when styled correctly. Length does not necessarily define formality; it can easily give the chic appeal of a cocktail dress, with the same informal but fashionable approach.

Kerry Washington executed the look flawlessly in a floor length gown by Michael Kors. The silver neck detail, high slit, and vibrant color gave the look an appropriate amount of sex appeal for the occasion.

Ashanti teetered the line between acceptable & 'doing too much.' ....yeah, the line is VERY fine. ...and she's sitting on it. LOL.

Other celebs went for the floor length gown; but failed in my opinion. Taraji P. Henson & Megan Good really looked like they were on the carpet of another award show. ....or prom. Their choices were NOT soo appropriate for the occasion :(

All-in-all when done well, the floor length gown is definitely #SWANKapproved!
